FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO YOU TAKE CUSTOM ORDERS?
I'm sorry, I am not currently taking custom order requests at this time. I appreciate your understanding!
HOW WILL MY JEWELRY ARRIVE PACKAGED?
Your jewelry will arrive packaged in a MELANIE GOLDEN JEWELRY monogrammed jewelry box to ensure protection during shipping and ease of gifting with a black tarnish strip to protect the jewelry from the elements. Jewelry care information is also included.
Orders including more than one item may be packaged together in the same box to prevent excess waste. If you require each item to be packaged separately, please leave a note in the “Note to Seller” box during checkout and I will be happy to include additional boxes.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY JEWELRY?
With proper care, your jewelry will last a lifetime. To minimize damage, store your jewelry in an air tight container (such as the box it arrived in) and avoid exposing it to household chemicals. To prevent tarnish, a dulling that naturally occurs when metal reacts with the ambient air, clean your jewelry with polishes or cloths formulated to remove tarnish to keep it bright and sparkling. Wearing your jewelry often is the best way to prevent tarnish. All jewelry comes with a black tarnish strip to protect the jewelry from the elements. Keep this sealed with your jewelry to protect it from tarnish for up to a year.
HOW DO I REMOVE TARNISH?
All silver jewelry is prone to tarnish.
925 Sterling Silver is more resistant to tarnish than pure 999 silver, but tarnish is still a natural process that can happen to the metal with time and exposure to makeup, hair products, soaps, chemicals, or even just the ambient air. Sometimes this can even happen to people who have more acidic skin, and their skin reacts with the metal. Do you have any metal allergies? Sometimes your body will “fight” the Jewelry by producing a more acidic environment where the jewelry is worn.
Luckily, tarnish is easily removed!
A simple silver jewelry polishing cloth will clean the silver. These can be purchased almost anywhere online.
To help prevent tarnish, when not wearing the jewelry, you should store it either in the box your jewelry arrived in, or a protective airtight pouch or bag. I include a small black tarnish strip with every order, which is good for up to a year—seal this with your jewelry to help prevent tarnish!
Also, you should avoid exposing your jewelry to household chemicals when cleaning, as these chemicals can damage silver.
Care should also be taken to prevent silver tarnish build-up, a dulling that naturally occurs when silver reacts with sulfur or hydrogen sulfide in the ambient air. To clean your silver, use polishes or cloths formulated specifically to remove silver tarnish. Regular cleanings of all your silver jewelry will prevent tarnish and keep your silver bright and sparkling!
A general rule of thumb to follow is that your jewelry should be the last thing you put on in the morning and the first thing you take off at night. This will help keep chemicals, makeup, perfumes, and other products for getting on the jewelry and damaging it. Regular polishing or cleaning will keep the jewelry looking shiny and clean.
I hope this is helpful! Please let me know if you have any questions.
HOW DO I FIND MY RING SIZE?
All of my rings are in standard USA ring sizes. I use extremely accurate sizing methods to get you the best possible fit. The most accurate way to find your true ring size is by visiting a local jeweler so that they can measure you.
USA ring sizes are different from the ring sizes of other countries. If you know your ring size in your country, there are nifty ring size conversion charts online! Just search “Ring size Conversion Chart”.
If you don’t know your ring size, the most accurate way to find your size is by visiting a local jeweler so that they can measure you.
However, there is also an alternate way to find your ring size online through from a printable ring sizer, which you can find by searching online for “Printable Ring Sizer”. Please keep in mind that this method may not be as accurate as visiting a jeweler. Also this ring sizer must be PRINTED at 100%! The ring sizer will not be accurate otherwise. Computer monitors are NOT true to size, and the chart must be printed. At 100% scale.
CAN YOU RESIZE MY RING?
Unfortunately, no, I am not able to resize your ring.
I use traditional torch soldering methods to fabricate jewelry, so resizing is not always possible. I do not currently have laser welding equipment for repairs or resizing. With torch soldering I would have to re-heat the entire piece of jewelry and doing so would compromise the integrity of the design, and any stones would have to be removed, which would once again compromise the design.
If you absolutely must get your ring resized, please take it to a credible jeweler who specializes in repair work. This does not mean another jeweler similar to me online on Etsy or Instagram, it means someone local who has a reputable business in jewelry design and repair (think of places like Samuels Jewelers, Kay Jewelers, or Jared). These business are completely different from what I do. Usually these places are popular stores in town for bridal, anniversary, engagement, jewelry, etc. These types of businesses will have the special type of equipment needed to complete a ring resizing without having to remove stones or heat up the entire piece of jewelry.
This being said, In some cases I may be able to stretch your ring to make it slightly larger, but this is very limited. I might be able to stretch your ring up to a half size, or possibly a full size larger. This is not always possible. Ask me!
WHAT IS STERLING SILVER?
Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. But why mix copper with pure silver? You might think, “oh, sterling silver is not as good as pure silver”. It may not be pure, but sterling silver is mixed to this ratio for very good reasons. Silver oxidizes (tarnishes) quickly, leaving it a yucky brown color. Copper slows down this process. Secondly, pure silver is very soft and can bend or break easily. Adding a more durable metal ensures that your silver jewelry will last a lot longer and look a lot nicer. So really, sterling silver, although not pure, is usually the better option when choosing jewelry.
WHAT IS GOLD FILL? WHAT IS GOLD VERMEIL?
Gold fill is composed of a solid layer of gold bonded to brass. Gold fill items can be worn daily for years without wearing through. Gold filled items are 100,000 times thicker than regular gold plating, and 25,000 times thicker than gold electroplate.
Gold Vermeil (pronounced vur-MAY) is genuine high-quality .925 sterling silver that has been coated in a thick layer of solid 14k gold. Gold Vermeil is perfect for those with metal allergies due to the durable thickness of gold over sterling. It is the best of both worlds—incredible quality at prices that won't break the bank. Vermeil pieces are stamped with the standard sterling silver purity mark (925 or .925), which tells you that the piece is genuine.

ABOUT MY PHOTOGRAPHY
I do my best to photograph and describe my jewelry as accurately as possible. In no way would I ever knowingly misrepresent any items that I sell. I use a macro lens so you are able to get a closer look at the jewelry detail and color, so some items may appear larger than they actually are in the photos. Additional photos are available for most pieces showing the jewelry held or worn on a models hand to help you get a better idea of the size of the jewelry. Also, all sizes and measurements are listed under the item description. Please remember, your monitor color settings may be different than mine, so colors could possibly appear slightly different. I use very accurate white balance settings to show you the most realistic colors possible.
CUSTOMS DUTIES AND FEES
Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing which countries and cities/towns choose to charge taxes and customs fees. This is usually on a case-by-case basis, depending on where you live. Anything purchased abroad is subject to being charged customs/duties fees. Generally, a customs fee is charged for processing an import declaration.
Customer satisfaction is my top priority. I want you to love your new jewelry! Returns and exchanges are accepted within 30 days of purchase. Please contact for more information if you need an exchange or return for detailed instructions.
